Senior Midfield New Cannan, Connecticut New Cannan High School Government Stauffer is arguably the finest women's soccer player to ever suit up for the Crimson, and is certainly the most decorated. Her career highlights include being selected as an All-American in all four years of her playing career; selection as the Ivy Rookie of the Year as a freshman and twice taking home Player of the Year honors; being named to the Ivy League Silver Anniversary Honor Roll as one of the 16 top Ivy League soccer players in the conference's history; and twice emerging as a finalist for the Hermann Trophy (college soccer's equivalent of the Heisman) and three times as a finalist for the Missouri Athletic Club Player of the Year Award, honoring collegiate soccer's top American-born or naturalized player. Most recently, Stauffer was awarded the NCAA's top undergraduate honor, as she was named one of the "Today's Top VIII". She was honored along with seven other student-athletes at the NCAA Convention on January 10 in San Antonio. Since 1980, Stauffer is just the ninth Harvard soccer player to be named an All-American. Stauffer was a GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-American as a junior, and is a candidate for the same honor this year. She is also a two-time Academic All-Ivy pick, and is one of just twelve players in Ivy League history to be named first team All-Ivy in all four years of her playing career. Additionally, she is the Harvard career recordholder in assists (36), and finished with 110 career points (37 goals, 36 assists). Stauffer led the 1998 team in scoring with six goals and 11 assists (two assists shy of the single-season mark) for 21 points. . |
