CAMBRIDGE, MA --  The Harvard women's soccer team got three goals
from sophomore Joey Yenne (St. Cloud, MN) to propel the squad to a
7-1 victory over the Catamounts of the University of Vermont on
Friday afternoon on Ohiri Field.  Harvard improves to 1-1 on the
season, while the Cats fall to 1-4.

The Crimson got on the board early, as Yenne took a feed from
Katie Westfall (Johnsburg, IL) and buried it past UVM keeper Katie
Duffy (Monroe, NY) for a 1-0 lead in the third minute of play.
Westfall fed Orly Ripmaster (Boulder, CO) for the second goal of the
game 10 minutes later, and Caitlin Costello gave Harvard a 3-0 lead
in the 37th minute off of assists from Caitlin Fisher (Cambridge,
MA) and Meredith Stewart (Holliston, MA).

The Crimson drew first blood in the second as well, as it
took Westfall just :55 to beat replacement Vermont keeper Brooke
Fairbanks (Cape Elizabeth, ME) for the 4-0 lead.  The Catamounts
came back with a quick strike from the foot of Megan Mercier (South
Burlington, VT) just 20 seconds later, but Yenne netted two more
tallies in the next eight minutes -- both unassisted tallies -- to
put the game out of reach.  Kathleen Fergusson (Seattle, WA) scored
an insurance goal in the 76th minute to ice the victory for Harvard.

Robyn Scatena (Stockton, CA) made her first start of the
season for Harvard, recording two saves and allowing one goal while
playing into the 59th minute.  Mollie Durkin (Kirkland, WA) went the
rest of the way without having to make a save for Harvard.  Duffy
and Fairbanks each played 45 minutes, with Duffy surrendering three
goals and making five saves, and Fairbanks allowing four goals and
making eight stops.

Harvard is idle until a game next Saturday, September 16, at Penn.
