Game Report
Harvard's 22-game unbeaten streak came to an abrupt end
today, and their chances to extend their Ivy League title streak to 3 were greatly
dimished. Yale's goal just over 4 minutes into sudden death game the team plenty to
think about on the bus back from New Haven.
It was a familiar story: Harvard outshot Yale, 24-13, but
came up short on the stat that really counts, shots in the net. It was a
sweet revenge for Yale given what happened in last year's game at Ohiri: a 1-1 tie was
broken by Naomi Miller's bomb from way out with just 11 seconds to go. While Naomi
(and linsday Minkus) still scored for the Crimson today, as the season matures, moments
like that will need to become more than just a distant memory.
The team gets a break from competition until they arrive in
Virginia this weekend to face two nationally-ranked teams (George Mason, host, and
Maryland). Although from a tournament standpoint these matched may not mean a lot
(barring Harvard blowing them out), some good results in Fairfax could help the women
greatly in the quest to regain the level of confidence they had last year. They need
to achieve that and combine it with losses by the Ivy leaders, Yale and (are you sitting
down?) Penn, both 2-0-0 in the Ivy.

Team records:
Harvard: 4-2-1, 1-1-0 Ivy
Yale: 3-2-1, 2-0-0 Ivy

Scoring
Harvard: Miller, Minkus. Details to follow.
